Mind
Addressing the health of the body can be difficult without addressing the health of the mind first. If we continue to make decisions that cause us stress and worry, these emotions may manifest in illness or strain on our physical bodies. I have found that when my patients begin doing "mind care" such as counseling or reading self-help books that their physical health improves more rapidly than those who do not incorporate some kind of mental health care. Here are some suggestions for beginning to help your mind to heal. See more recommended books on mind...

Spirit
In the holistic medical model, the three pillars of health are mind, body and spirit. Many of us work hard at gaining physical or mental health. Spirituality is often lost in the shuffle. For some of my patients, the root of health lies in their Spirituality. Spirituality and nourishing the spirit are very individual and it is not up to me to decide what the best fit would be for achieving spiritual well-being. If you are struggling to find ways to incorporate spirituality into a busy life, a book on meditation or a DVD on yoga may be a good place to start. A deck of cards with quotes that make you think on them may provide daily inspiration. Be creative and spend a little bit of time each day working as hard on your spiritual well-being as you do on your physical well-being. See more recommended books on spirit...
